My name is Lenay Williams, I was introduced to BJJ in 2011 when I was actually looking to lose 20lbs. I first started out just doing cardio with my husband and his training partners, and I did some kickboxing as well. Then Perry, my husband who is also my instructor began to incorporate Jiu Jitsu techniques into our workouts and that's when I got my first nab at bjj & I LOVED it. I initially started something is hopes of losing 20lbs, & ended up falling in love with this beautiful art that not only helped to lose weight, but I also gained I sense of confidence, empowerment & and a self defense. I absolutely love what I do, but it's more that just 'what I do' it's a lifestyle. This art has helped me in so many ways. I am healthier now than I have ever been in my life, I have encouraged other women to get involved, and if Jiu Jitsu isn't for them, I encourage them to take some sort of self-defense. We have also started a Women's BJJ class in our program and it has been so fun! I learn something every time my feet hit those mats and I honestly have a hard time leaving when it is time to go, lol! Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has given me a new found "something" that I just can't explain..........it is honestly a limitless art and you always learn something from it so to try and sum it up into one word would be impossible.
