Belt Rank: Blue Belt
Academy: Paragon BJJ
I originally started training with Phil Cardella at Relson Gracie in January 2010. I lived next door to the school and walked past it every day. My friend Christine Skruhak dragged me in one day for class and now I can not stay away. After a year and a half I switched to South Austin Gym and trained under Ronny Lis for about 7 months and then I transferred to Paragon, which as long as Robert Dembeck (owner) can tolerate me I will keep Paragon as my permanent home.
I am not a competitor nor will I ever be. I have nothing to prove in the tournament world. Jiu-Jitsu for me is a mental thing, it keeps me focused and allows me to put my excess energy into something positive. I started Jiu-Jitsu because my friend invited me to go, I have stayed with Jiu-Jitsu for almost 3 and a half years now NOT because of health, self-defense, or competition reasons but simply because Jiu-Jitsu provides a healthy training environment for everyone no matter your reason for showing up.
Jiu-Jitsu puts me around people that I never would be normally associated with and I am blessed for every moment that I am allowed to train and for the women that have guided me along the way. Eventually, in turn, I will be able to provide some guidance as well.
