Love at First Sight
I was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu October of 2009. I didn't know anything about Jiu Jitsu. I was invited to watch a class. I thought it was great!! I joined and couldn't wait to compete at a tournament. I trained as much as I could.
I love the chess game aspect of Jiu Jitsu. There are many different techniques. I'm always learning something new.
Jiu Jitsu gives you an advantage over someone bigger and stronger by using leverage and technique. It's very interesting!!
I have become more confident in myself, whether I'm facing a team mate on the mats, or an opponent at a competition. I have learned to face things head on, don't back down, move forward and believe in myself.
I love the fitness aspect of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It involves cardio, balance, speed, timing, muscle memory and the unconscious mind (doing things without thinking automatically).
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a lot of fun!! It's always changing. Everyone in Jiu Jitsu has a common interest. There are others that share that same interest all over the world, which ties us together. Very cool!!
Most important I'm learning a tradition carried down from Master Helio Gracie to Master Mansor to my Professor Milton Regis. I'm proud to be learning from the best!!
